COLLINS CENTER — Robert J. Valentine, 78, of Collins Center, passed away Sunday, Aug. 1, 2021, surrounded by his family, at Buffalo General Hospital.

He was born on Dec. 28, 1942, in Gowanda, son of the late Joseph and Josephine (Andolsek) Valentine Jr. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served overseas in Germany. On May 9, 1964, Bob married the former Marlene Smith who predeceased him on Nov. 8, 2010. He previously worked at the Valentine Family Restaurant in Gowanda before working at Moench Tanning in Gowanda, then later becoming a foreman with National Fuel, from which he retired from.

Bob was a member of local area clubs such as Gowanda Veterans of Foreign Wars, Gowanda American Legion, Gowanda Moose Club, and Slovenian Club. He was previously active in the Collins Center Volunteer Fire Department, the Collins Center Cemetery Association, and had traveled with the Collins Seniors. Bob truly loved his family and enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting.

He is survived by his two daughters: Dawn Valentine and Joy (Norm) Johnson, both of Collins Center; his sister, Karen (David) Norcross of Southport, N.C.; three grandchildren: Keely, Deanna and Caleb; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents and loving wife, Bob is predeceased by his son, Kevin Valentine.

Private family services will be held.

Burial will be in Collins Center Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Collins Center Volunteer Fire Department.
