DEWITTVILLE — Laura Ellen Lupole, 86, of Dewittville, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2021, at St Vincent’s Hospital in Erie, Pa., following a brief illness.

She was born July 2, 1935, in Cherry Tree, Pa., the daughter of the late James Curtis and Irene Fairweather Ganoe.

Laura was a 1953 graduate of Jamestown High School. She had worked as a teacher’s aide at Cassadaga Central School and as an Assistant cook at the Methodist House at the Chautauqua Institution during the summers.

She was member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary with the Dunkirk Flotilla for five years, a life member of the Bear Lake Rod and Gun Club, where she was a former secretary, a member of the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club Auxiliary and attended the Mayville United Methodist Church.

Laura was passionate about gardening and taking care of the flowers at her home. She also enjoyed reading, fishing, boating, camping, watching and feeding the birds, and doing genealogy searches.

She is survived by her husband; Vincent Arthur Lupole Jr., whom she married June 29, 1979, in Jamestown, N.Y.; one daughter, Carol Lynn Lockhart of Jamestown; one son, Hervey (Cheryl) Lockhart of Panama; one grandson; Kenneth Lockhart; and three siblings: Lila Aharrah of Brooksville, Fla., Lucille (Jim) Marazalen of Jamestown, N.Y., and Lois Jean Howard of Brooksville, Fla.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Leslie Ganoe and Lester Ganoe; and one sister, Loretta Runfola.

The funeral will be held at 7 p.m., on Wednesday, Sept, 29, 2021, at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville (139 South Erie St.). The Rev. Norman Burdick will officiate. Calling hours will also be on Wednesday at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m., two hours prior to the service.
