DUNKIRK — Gladys J. Halicki, 102, a resident of Chautauqua Nursing & Rehab Center, Dunkirk, formerly of Lodi Street, Forestville, passed away Thursday, Dec. 2, 2021, at her residence. She was born in Youngstown, Ohio, on Feb. 22, 1919, the daughter of the late Lucas and Frances (Maziarz) Kuziora.

Gladys worked as a housekeeper for the former Gowanda Psychiatric Center, Helmuth, N.Y., for 12 years, retiring in 1981. She previously worked for the former Van Raalte Co. of Dunkirk, the former Curtis Wright Co. of Buffalo and also worked seasonally for her brother, Joe on his grape farm and her sister-in-law, Betty Kuzora at the former Collectors Corners Store in Forestville.

Gladys was a member of St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Forestville and the former St. Rose Society.

Survivors include a son, Thomas Halicki of Forestville; and several nieces & nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Edward J. Halicki, whom she married on Nov, 9, 1946, in St. Rose of Lima Roman Catholic Church, Forestville, and who died Jan, 23, 1951;, a sister, Mary Skop; and four brothers: Sebastian Kuziora, Leo Kuziora, Joseph Kuziora and Leonard “Hank” Kuzora.

Fiends are welcome to call at Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main St., Forestville on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday morning at 10 a.m., from the Faith Community of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St. Rose of Lima Church, Center Street, Forestville, with the Rev. Daniel F. Fiebelkorn, pastor officiating. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. Interment will follow in Forestville Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials may be made to Faith Community of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, 165 Central Ave., Silver Creek, NY 14136.
