Allen John “Fonz” Benson

He was born July 28, 1945, the son of the late Fred and Lila (Cooks) Benson Jr. He is also predeceased by his stepmother, Arline Benson.

Mr. Benson was predeceased by his first wife, Corinne (Frentz) Benson and survived by his second wife, Stephanie Cecil-Benson.

He was a proud U.S. Marine having served in combat in Vietnam. He was employed for over 40 years at Sixt Lumber in Little Valley, N,Y. He was a member of the Randolph American Legion and the Little Valley Veterans of Foreign Wars. He also had an active interest in the Civil War, World War II and the Vietnam War.

Besides his loving wife, he is survived by a daughter, Yvonne Benson of New Albion, N.Y. and a stepdaughter Leah Meadows of Columbus, Ohio; two granddaughters: Jordan and Peyton; and a few nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Yvette Matthews; and two brothers: Larry and Jerry Benson.

Friends may call at the Mentley Funeral Home Inc., 411 Rock City St., in Little Valley, N.Y., on Monday, May 16, 2022 from 11a.m.-1 p.m.

Funeral services and military honors will be held on Monday at 1p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Liberty Park Cemetery in Cattaraugus, N.Y.
