Thomas J. Guziec Sr.

Thomas J. Guziec Sr., passed away Wednesday evening, July 27, 2022, at Chautauqua nursing and rehab with his family byhis side.

Born in Dunkirk, Feb. 24, 1947, son of the late Edward and Stephania (Purol) Guziec.

A graduate of Cardinal Mindzenty High School in Dunkirk. Tom was a U.S. Army veteran Sgt with the Military Police during the TET Offensive in VietNam.

Retiring from Fredonia Central Schools, Tom had also worked at True Temper, Slawson & Mead, the Carriage House, and CPS.

His membersips include Blessed Mary Angela R.C. Parish Church of St. Hedwig, life member of the Dunkirk Falcons Club, VFW Post 1017, and the Erie Pigeon Racing Club.

Tom liked to hunt, fish Pigeon racing, having a Koch’s beer watching the Buffalo Bills but most of all time spent with his children and grandchildren. He coached little league in the 1980s, the Dunkirk Police and all star teams.

Surviving are his children: Thomas J. Guziec Jr of Dunkirk, James (Katie) Guziec of Evans, Katherine (Jason) Tomkiewicz of Sheridan and Kevin Guziec of Dunkirk: grandchildren Jordyn, Braden, Angelina, Abbey, Bella, Emma, Elliot, and Mia. A brother, Edward “Slick” (Brenda) Guziec and sister-in-law Jeanette Guziec, both of Dunkirk; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Preceded in death in addition to his parents is a brother, Frederick “Goobers” Guziec.

Funeral services were held Monday morning in Blessed Mary Angela Parish Church of St. Hedwig. Interment was in St. Hedwig’s Cemetery.
