Ryan Steven Howard

He was born July 12, 1974, in Westfield, N.Y., the son of Gary L. Howard Sr. and Carol Duryee Howard.

Ryan was a 1992 graduate of Chautauqua High School and then attended Ohio Diesel Mechanics Technical College in Cleveand, Ohio. He worked for the town of Stockton as a diesel mechanic and motor equipment operator.

Ryan enjoyed racing his race cars on the local dirt tracks, hunting, fishing, jet skiing, snowmobiling, traveling, vacationing, and his membership in the Studebaker Club. Most of all he loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mindy Louise Birdsell Howard, whom he married July 18, 2016, in Las Vegas, Nev.; his parents, Gary L Howard Sr. and Carol Duryee Howard of Mayville; six children: Benjamin (Samantha) Howard of Kennedy, N.Y., Andria (Mark) Eppinger of Ashville, N.Y., Michael (Christina) West of Ellabell, Ga., Katherine West of Newton, Kans., Jonathan Turner of Ashville, N.Y., and Elizabeth (Logan) Turner of Warren, Pa.; six grandchildren: Tucker, Riley, Joseph, Lucas Ryan, Lucas Michael and Waylon; two siblings: Gary (Lisa) Howard Jr., of Sharpsburg, Ga., and Christy (Hank) Asel of Lakewood, N.Y.; his maternal grandmother, Alice Chambers of Falconer, N.Y.; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by an aunt; Georgiana Duryee Hoesel; and his paternal grandparents and maternal grandfather.

Friends will be received for visitation from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 26, 2022, at the Freay Funeral Home in Mayville (139 S. Erie St). The funeral service will be private.
