CONEWANGO, N.Y. — Phyllis K. Traber, 60, of Riga Road, Conewango Valley, Town of Leon, passed away Friday, Dec.ember 2, 2022, at home.

She was born Nov. 8, 1962, in the Town of Concord, Springville, N.Y., the daughter of the late Alfred K. and Theresa C. (Bottini) Smith.

Phyllis attended North Collins High School and retired from the New York State DDSO after 32 years of service, where she was a DSA aide at the Ellington day habilitation in Ellington, N.Y.

Raised Catholic, Phyllis was a communicant of the Catholic Church and was confirmed in North Collins at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Her family, and especially her grandchildren, were what she enjoyed most. Phyllis also like working outside and being outdoors.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Robert E. “Bob” Traber, whom she married on Dec. 31, 1987, in Collins, N.Y.; a daughter, Olivia Traber-Egner and husband, Chris of Conewango Valley; two grandchildren: Karleigh R. Egner and Jeremiah R. Egner of Conewango Valley; brothers: Rosswell “Ross” Smith and wife, Barbie of Florida and Timothy Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Theresa; and siblings: Alfred Smith Jr. and Larry Smith.

As per Phyllis’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial is being planned for the spring of 2023 and will be announced.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Howie T. VanRensselaer of the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph, N.Y.
