Kathleen M. Murray, 77, of Dunkirk died Wednesday (March 15, 2023) at home.

She was born Feb. 13, 1946 in Dunkirk, the daughter of the late Ralph and Assunta (Tramuta) Dolce.

A lifelong area resident, Kathleen was a graduate of Dunkirk High School, class of 1963. She had most recently been employed as a secretary at the Fredonia Penny Saver and previously, at D&K Furniture, and McCrory’s Store both of Dunkirk.

Survivors include two daughters, Amy (Tim) Gavin of Wilmington, NC and Mindy (Tom) Block of Fredonia; one son, Jay (Mary) Murray of Wilmington; five grandchildren, Trevor, Colton and Tanner Haas, and Isabella and Mikayla Murray; one great-granddaughter, Mae Haas; two sisters, Angie (the late Norman) Streit of Muncie, IN and Theresa (the late Albert) Riesterer of Ashtabula, OH; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James P. Murray, who died Sept. 21, 2010; one sister, Anna (the late Leonard) Nasca; and two brothers, Rocco (Gloria) and Jerry (Agnes) Dolce.

Kathy loved living life to the fullest and was known for entertaining her family and friends with her delicious Sunday pasta dinners. Kathy and her late husband, Jim, were noted for their love of the outdoors, traveling, and experiencing the many small adventures along the way. She was her happiest with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchild, whom she often reminded, “You wouldn’t want a boring Grandma now would you!” She loved spending time collecting seashells at the beach, taking shopping trips to Erie with her daughters and friends, meeting her sisters at the Casino, and gardening in her backyard. She spent her later years pampering her dogs, most recently, her beloved Dante.

Calling hours will be held Friday, March 24, from 4-7 p.m. at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home.
