Katherine Adele Hennessey

Katherine Adele Hennessey, beloved mother to 2 sons, Phillip E. Hopkins and Jeffrey W.Hopkins, 3 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild, passed away on July 10, 2025, leaving avoid her family cannot fill.

She was born in Dunkirk, NY, on July 11, 1949, to Charles J. Hennessey and Sara Catherine Whidden. She resided in Dunkirk, NY; Fredonia, NY; Apalachicola, FL; Jamestown, NY;Lakewood, NY, and finally in Blasdell, NY, where her granddaughter cared for her until her final days.

Katherine was a devoted mother to Phillip E. and Jeffrey W. Hopkins, her pride and joy. She was a fierce advocate for her boys, especially Jeffrey, who had learning difficulties as a child. If there were an opportunity out there for Jeff, she’d fight for it with the veracity of a Mama Bear, even caring for him after a car accident left him with a TBI, until he died in late 2022. She also raised her granddaughter, Samantha, for years until she and Samantha moved to Blasdell with Lindsay.

In her earlier years, Katherine enjoyed crafting, quilting, wallpapering (running her own wallpapering business for years), getting the best deals at lawn & estate sales, and acquiring beautiful antiques and cobalt blue glass. She also enjoyed family trips downsouth when the boys were small.

Katherine was preceded in death by her father, Charles; her mother, Sarah; her brothers,Jim and Bob; her sister Peggy; and her son Jeffrey. She is survived by a sister, Patty, son Phillip, and his wife, Shelley (Krotz), her 3 grandchildren, Lindsay R. Hopkins, Leah M.Hopkins, Samantha T.M. Hopkins, 1 great-granddaughter, Rylee J.M. Carruth, and several cousins, nieces and nephews who will all never forget the sacrifices she made for her family and the love she brought to their lives. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. On-line condolences may be made at larsontimkofuneralhome.com.
