Party needs support for Williams, Civiletto in city

Commentary

I am writing to ask the registered voters of the Working Families Party to vote for our endorsed candidates, Donald Williams for Dunkirk City First Council Ward and Michael Civiletto for Dunkirk City Fourth Ward in the Working Families Primary on Tuesday.

The Working Families Party believes Donald and Michael best represents our progressive values, vision and agenda for New York. Both men filled out an extensive application and then faced an interview process where they are evaluated by Working Family Party members.

Williams has been a local labor leader for more than 25 years and has a proven track record of fighting for the rights of working families. This is second time Michael has received our endorsement. The Working Family Party is proud to endorse both candidates.

The candidates who are asking you to write their names on the ballot are exploiting a loophole in election law to force a Working Families Party primary election to steal our ballot line in November. We interviewed Mr. Williams’ opponent during our interview process and felt he did not meet the values of our party. Mr. Civiletto’s opponent did not even bother to ask for our endorsement.

Too many dedicated volunteers have given their time to build our party. We cannot let Republican operatives hijack our ballot line and mislead voters.

Please vote in the Working Families Primary on Tuesday for Donald Williams and Michael Civiletto, the endorsed Working Families candidates.

If you have any questions, please contact me or our regional office at 718-222-3796. If you wish to help get more involved with the Party locally, contact me at robedi127@gmail.com or 680-3988.

Robert E. Dando Jr. is Chautauqua Area Vice Chair of the Working Families Party.
