Thirty years ago — 1990

Steven Judkins, a senior at Fredonia High School, has been selected Student of the Week. He is the son of Sandra Judkins of Fredonia and David Judkins of Seattle. A 3-1-3 student at SUNY Fredonia, Steve is ranked fourth in his class. He was a participant in the Fredonia-Bamberg exchange with West Germany. He has been active with the school yearbook as a photographer, school newspaper and literary magazine, and the Peer Helping Program. He plans to study computer and robotics engineering.

Forty years ago — 1980

Postmasters Robert Bileske of Fredonia and Alvin Kaymore of Dunkirk announced that their offices are using the new Susan B. Anthony dollar coin when window clerks are making change. The Susan B. Anthony coin was introduced in July 1979 and more than 600 million of the new dollars were produced in fiscal year 1979 by the Bureau of the Mint.

Fifty years ago — 1970

Dr. Robert E. Rentschler has been appointed assistant superintendent of schools in Dunkirk by the Board of Education.
