Thirty years ago — 1990

Ghosts at Brocton school? Fourth-grade students at Brocton Central School had fun creating a poster board display about the alleged ghosts in the school building. They even gave the ghost a name — IHANDEDITIN. Participants included Robert Sheldon, Marc Allee, Brandon Mitchell, Danny Petrella and Jared DeLand.

Forty years ago — 1980

County Executive Joseph Gerace has received an invitation to meet with President Carter and senior White House advisers to discuss foreign and domestic issues. Gerace has agreed to take part in this White House discussion group and will contribute his own thoughts not only on foreign and national affairs, but also issues of vital importance to Chautauqua County and the local areas.

Fitty years ago — 1970

Dedication ceremonies for the recently completed and fully paid for $32,000 fellowship hall of the Forestville United Methodist Church were held recently. Mrs. Grace Abbey, chairman of the building fund, spearheaded the activities.
