Thirty years ago — 1990
After graduating with honors from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, Amy J. Kuschel of Dunkirk has accepted the position of assistant designer for the W. L. Green Co.’s “1045 Park” sportwear division in Manhattan. The line is sold in a number of stores, including Bonwit Teller, Macy’s, The Gap, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdale’s, Lord & Taylor and Kaufmann’s.
Forty years ago — 1980
Members of Commandery 90, Knights of St. John, have again begun a crusade to retain the bell tower of the former Sacred Heart Church in Dunkirk. Initial efforts to retain the bell tower met with approval from citizens and city officials. The proposed Bell Tower would be 16 feet square with the landscaped area additional. The three bells and the clock in the tower were gifts from the Dotterweich family of Dunkirk.
Fifty years ago — 1970
Dr. John A. Barone, valedictorian of the Dunkirk High School Class of 1941, was appointed to the newly created position of provost of Fairfield University.
