Thirty years ago — 1990

Mrs. Paul Urbanik and Mrs. Norbert Lanski, both of Dunkirk, have returned after two weeks in Goose Creek, S.C., visiting Mrs. Pat Clucas, daughter of Mrs. Lanski. They toured the area in South Carolina and saw the aftermath of “Hugo.” They also visited the Magnolia Plantation and Gardens.

Forty years ago — 1980

Rep. Stanley Lundine said today that Dunkirk is being pressed to follow through with a public housing project because of a “past agreement” with the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Lundine pointed out that the city “made a deal” with HUD to accept federally subsidized housing in exchange for federal community development funds. The city has received more than $3.1 million in community development funds and suggested the construction of 100 federally subsidized housing units in return.

Fifty years ago — 1970

Two awards were presented to Allan and Margaret Reppenhagen, 7-10 Front St., Silver Creek at the Buffalo Boat Show.
