Thirty years ago — 1990

Northern Chautauqua County Special Olympic Bowlers were honored at their first bowling banquet held at the Sheraton Harborfront Inn. Six honorees, who were among the 30 participants in the program, were recognized for their achievements. They are Andrea Nalepa, Diane Catalano, Richard Forrester, Jim Raiport, Jamie Cady and Mike Krauza.

Forty years ago — 1980

The Cassadaga Job Corps’ Boy Scout Explorer Post 380 members are helping out the 1980 Census through their hand delivery of census information pamphlets to residents in the Cassadaga and Lily Dale communities. As part of their Good Turn community service project, eight members of the troop went door to door in each of these communities to explain how the census will be conducted and its benefits.

Fifty years ago — 1970

American flag arm patches, similar to the ones being worn by Dunkirk police, now also will be worn by drivers of the Fred Koch Brewery of Dunkirk. A total of 100 patches were purchased by Koch’s through the American Federation of Police.
