Thirty years ago — 1990
Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam from Manhattan were the headline performers at a concert in Steele Hall on the Fredonia State
University Campus. The concert was nearly sold out, with a little over 2,800 fans in the audience. Pop, dance and rap performer Rob Base of Harlem was the warm-up opening act for the show. However, some audience members apparently were offended by his fair amount of profanity directed at them.
Forty years ago — 1980
David C. Belmondo has joined the OBSERVER Advertising Department as an Account Representative. Mr. Belmondo is
listed in the 1980 edition of the Guinness Book of World Records for a record-spinning marathon which lasted 2016 hours in 1978. He resides in Brocton.
Fifty years ago — 1970
William Jones was elected king and Maryann Samuelson, queen, of the Cardinal Mindszenty High School junior prom.
