Thirty years ago — 1990

Rainey Cardon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul M. Cardon of Perrysburg, has been named valedictorian of the Class of 1990 at Gowanda Central Senior High School. She will study for a career in either physical therapy or education at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. Salutatorian Melissa Hancock plans to attend the University of Buffalo in the fall to pursue a career in law. She is the daughter of Lynda Hancock of Collins and Thomas Hancock of Silver Creek.

Pvt. Lucyann Castelamare of Fredonia, who says she’s “really happy” with Army life, has been named the honor graduate of her 500-member company at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Castelamare, 10250 McAllister Road, Fredonia.

Dwight Pfleuger, a member of the Silver Creek Key Club, has been elected lieutenant governor of the Southwestern District of Key Clubs.
