Retrospective

Thirty years ago — 1990

Lee Osman, a fifth-grade student at Brocton Central School, won seventh place in Western New York in an essay contest. The contest was sponsored by the Western New York Volunteer Firemen’s Association and dealt with fire prevention and safety. Lee’s entry competed with thousands of other fifth- and sixth-graders from 14 counties. Lee is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Osman of Bear Lake Road, Brocton.

Forty years ago — 1980

Student of the Week is Thomas Edward Jordan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Jordan of Sinclairville. Active in track, he holds the Cassadaga Valley record in the 330 intermediate hurdles. Thomas has served as president of the Student Council and is the current vice president of the National Honor Society. He has been accepted at Alfred University where he plans to study pre-law.

Fifty years ago — 1970

Officers of the Women’s Auxiliary at Lake Shore Inter- Community Hospital are Mrs. Richard W. Millar, president; Miss Jo Barone, first vice president; Mrs. Ralph Buth, recording secretary; Mrs. Fred Feltz, corresponding secretary; Mrs. John Lafferty, second vice president and Mrs. William Houston, treasurer.
