Thirty years ago — 1990
Department of Social Services Attorney Jerry D. Hyde was honored with Chautauqua County’s “Outstanding Employee Award” for major accomplishments during the past two years as the Child Support coordinator of the Department of Social Services Child Support Enforcement Division. The award was presented by County Executive Andrew W. Goodell. Mr. Hyde is a Silver Creek resident.
Forty years ago — 1980
Fred Hogg and Jeff Kucinski were the only males in their sixth-grade graduating class at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School in Silver Creek. The boys not only share the same birthday, but also the same interests. They were born Feb. 24, 1968, 450 miles apart. Fred and Jeff currently play on the same Little League baseball team and have been best friends since kindergarten. They both look forward to careers in veterinary medicine.
Fifty years ago — 1970
Thomas L. Barresi is the new president of the Fredonia Rotary Club. He received his gavel from outgoing president G. James Dengler during a recent luncheon meeting at the White Inn.
