Thirty years ago — 1991

Boy Scout Troop 254 and Cub Scout Pack 254 sponsored by St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish celebrated the 61st anniversary of Cub Scouts and the 81st anniversary of Boys Scouts last Sunday. Two Dunkirk boys were presented with the Parvuli Dei emblem during a special service. They are Michael Bradley and Erik Kolodziej.

Forty years ago — 1981

Charles H. Moriarty of 94 South Chapel Street, Gowanda is the first-ever Lion of the Year in the Gowanda Lions Club. Mr. Moriarty, two-time district deputy governor for the Lions, is in his sixth year as secretary of the Gowanda Lions Club. The club plans to annually present the Lion of the Year award to honor an outstanding member.

Fifty years ago — 1971

“The Citizen,” Dunkirk High School’s newspaper, has named its new editorial staff. Members are Ann Bernstein, editorin- chief; Shirley Drozdziel, news; Denise Maslakowski, features; Stan Sliwa, sports; and Risha Granto, publicity.
