Thirty years ago — 1991

The brand new Quality Market opened May 5 after a grand opening ceremony and ribbon-cutting. Louis Dispenza is the manager of the new store which is located in the D & F Plaza. Special drawing and giveaways were held with grand prizes including a trailer/camper and a vacation cruise to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla.

Forty years ago — 1981

Workmen at A.J. Wahl Inc. in Brocton are preparing an eight-ton machine for shipment to a Venezuelan company, which is the South American country’s first manufacturer of porcelain insulators for the electric power industry. The machine, the first of its kind, was designed and built by Wahl, which has developed new technology for making porcelain insulators. Wahl workmen will travel to Venezuela to supervise the installation of the machine.

Fifty years ago — 1971

“Keep a Good Thing Going” will be the slogan for a two-day radio program designed to help Cardinal Mindszenty High School in Dunkirk raise money to meet expenses for the 1971-72 school year.
