Thirty years ago — 1991

Lt. Cmdr. Thomas A. Schibler was the keynote speaker for the Silver Creek Central School commencement exercises. A 1977 Silver Creek graduate, he continued a Silver Creek tradition of having an alumnus serve as commencement speaker. Schibler is currently assigned as a basic training officer in charge of the Basic Underwater Demolition Navy Seal Training Course. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Schibler of Silver Creek.

Forty years ago — 1981

Miss Rebecca Ann Ackley, 17, of Persia Road, Gowanda is one of three Cattaraugus County Dairy Maids who will assist the Cattaraugus County Dairy Princess during the 1981 Cattaraugus County Fair in Little Valley. Miss Ackley, a recent graduate of Gowanda Central School, will be in the opening day parade and assist with the presentation of agricultural awards and ribbons. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ackley.

Fifty years ago — 1971

In recognition of his 45 years of service, Charles L. Hoch of Shorewood Drive, Dunkirk was honored by the Marine Midland, Chautauqua National Bank in Dunkirk. Mr. Hoch is vice president in charge of the Dunkirk branch of the banking firm.
