Thirty years ago — 1991

An interest in the community and a genuine love for young people has prompted Francis Heenan of Silver Creek to open a teen center. The idea came to him a couple of years ago when he moved back to Silver Creek. The new center is located at 330 Central Ave., Silver Creek in the storefront formerly known as Crino’s Market. Open just a few weeks, the new teen center has received some good reviews from community members.

Forty years ago — 1981

Linda Kelleher of Gowanda is the auto parts manager at Baumgarden Chevrolet in Gowanda. To her knowledge, she is one of just two women who are auto parts managers in the area General Motors district, which extends from Buffalo to Erie. She started out as a parts truck driver for Jacobs Chevrolet before getting the parts manager position.

Fifty years ago — 1971

Joan Glenzer has been appointed acting director of the budget and accounts payable department at Fredonia State University College.
