Fredonia: Ready to revisit court merger
Fredonia Mayor Athanasia Landis went back to the drawing board on an issue that makes sense for neighboring entities: a consolidation of the village and town of Pomfret court.
This is not the first time the issue has been discussed, but we have hopes — with the rising clamor for a county district court system — that this becomes a reality and not just a talking point. Heading up the committee will be Trustee Michael Barris and include village Administrator Richard St. George, village Police Chief Bradley Meyers and attorney Dan Gard. Also needed for the committee is some representation from Pomfret, which we would assume is open to the idea.
Landis has said in previous meetings she wants regional solutions. This is a good step.
