DUNKIRK: Revisiting policies for closing
Dunkirk community members have spoken out on social media, some in fairly rude tones we might add, regarding the decision to keep schools open Friday on a blustery winter day while neighboring districts were closed.
Those individuals are not alone in their frustrations, we learned on Sunday. School board members, led by President Dave Damico, offered their apologies for what happened. Damico also admitted a superintendent’s decision to close school is never easy.
That being said, Dunkirk school board members are reviewing policies for the future in regard to school closings. Residents interested can attend the workshop meeting Tuesday at the high school large instruction room at 5:30 p.m.
Everyone is welcome to an opinion, but respect must be shown. That is something social media users normally do not handle well.
