Dunkirk’s state champions have a tall order ahead this week. The high school girls bowling team will be looking to defend their title in Syracuse this weekend.

It was last month when the talented team won Section 6 in dramatic fashion over Tonawanda. Highlighting the day was Makayla Pasierb scoring a perfect 300 game at the tournament, which was held at Airport Lanes in Cheektowaga.

Friday to March 15 brings the next test. “This was extremely exciting, but it also worried me a little because everyone was so excited,” Coach Donna Kubera said after the sectional victory Feb. 13.

Last year’s squad had a season to remember. We’re hopeful this group can continue a proud tradition.
