SILVER CREEK: Praising effort for village pantry
A recently announced collaboration in the village of Silver Creek is an opportunity to give and be grateful. This week, the Silver Creek Food Pantry and Anderson-Lee Library announced they have been working together to establish a Little Free Pantry, located in the lobby of the library, at 43 Main St.
The Little Free Pantry will be open during library hours and is stocked with shelf stable food and personal hygiene items. When taking, there is a limit of five to six items. When giving, please make sure the item is unopened, not expired, and is a non-perishable item. Personal hygiene items are also accepted.
During the recent Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program scare that occurred during the government shutdown, a realization of need swept across not only our county, but the nation. Food insecurity is a true problem for many as prices — no matter what Wall Street says — are not offering relief to many in our hard-working community.
Silver Creek’s pantry is open during library hours. They are Monday and Tuesday from noon to 8 p.m., Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday from noon to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is closed Sunday and Wednesday.
