When you think Northern Chautauqua County broadcasting there is only ONE name that comes to mind. Dan is an institution here. I remember listening to him during breakfast as a grade school kid back in the 70's hoping he would announce a snow day. Or listening to him broadcast the DHS basketball games in the 80's back when "peanuts" Wisniewski coached them to multiple sectional games. Or how about the DHS State Championship baseball game in 1988 or the FHS State Championship in 2006 !! That's quite a span of time and Dan was there for it all. Congratulations Dan!!

The greatest attribute Dan Palmer had is that he put his job first. He went all out whether it was a local mean-nothing game or a sectional championship. When I was in Babe Ruth some 35 years ago, Dan announced every one of our games. At the end of the year, he made a special highlight audio tape entitled "The Year of The Come Back." After our last game, he presented each of us kids with a recording of that tape. We left the field with our heads in the clouds that day, feeling like we were special ball players. Last night it was his turn to feel special. Thanks, Dan; you are a real treasure for our area. What a body of work!
