March 24, 2013

We heard it from the previous administration, so why would we not hear it from the current group? The discussion revolves around the Dunkirk Local Development Corp....

Ok small time mind. I will try to be as plain as possible. If Kory and Timmy who worked in the developement dept. were writing bonus checks to each other it should be rather easy to prove. All one has to do is check for the checks they supposedly wrote to each other. If the checks are found and found to be illegal use of city money then send their a-- to jail. Simple, sweet and to the point.

teacherteacher you're absolutely right. I'm still waiting to hear the Observer come down hard on Kory. They certainly didn't say anything when Frey hired Kory for Development Director while not even interviewing candidates who actually had degrees and experience in that field.

The DLDC does not have an Executive Director. It has no employees. The board is a volunteer board. Yes, the Development Director is the Chair of the board but he doesn't get paid for participating on the board. What has happened to investigative reporting?

The DLDC is a registered non-profit. It is not illegal. They fall under the jurisdiction of the NYS Authorities Budget Office and there are many many many other Local Development Corporations across NYS.

I agree that the two should be kept separate and that Frey and Dolce are doing a bad job at that.

Smalltownsmallmind, read the recent audit. Read what the HUD issue is about. It tells you 2 individuals in the Dept of Development were writing bonus checks to each other. Also lots of other missing money issues. Its in the audit. Kory and Tim are the ones that need to reply to the issues. No one is holding them accountable.

Strange how the state or federal attorney generals office never looked into any of the illegal under the table dealings that have gone on in all of Chautauqua County!

teacher teacher. Your statement should be rather easy to prove as the cancelled checks will be the proof. Who is leading the investigation in this matter? I would think the police with the help of the city finance officer would be conducting an investigation. But I kinda doubt they will. For we all know who Kory is related to and that would not be in the best interests of the Democratic party. So there it is can't make it any planer than that.

Blasting The OBSERVER will not solve our problems. The reality is that the DLDC has been in existance for decades and it's difficult to think of any accomplishments from the organization. I believe the previous administration gave too much authority to the DLDC and in some cases bypassed the authority of the common council. I look forward to seeing the response of HUD to the recent allegations by the state comptroller that funds were misused. In the final analysis the DLDC is a useless expense to the taxpayers of the city.

Where in the city charter does it say the DLDC is part of the city government? It doesn't. So therefore it does not legally exist. Since it does not exist all monies paid to it from city coffers is in a word illegal. There was a lot of money paid out illegally by the former administration and it looks like this administration is following in its footsteps. It is obvious the auditors will not report this in their findings. So what is the answer? Perhaps an investigation is warranted by an outside agency to clear all this up and if necessary take action against those who perpetuate this. Then perhaps the tax payer will start seeing a change in the city. On another note. Where and how much has been collected since the city took over ambulance calls and the costs associated with that?

Indeed -- the DLDC is a part of Dunkirk city government like the Clueless OBSERVER is a part of its West Virginia Sugar Daddy.

What erks The Clueless OBSERVER board is that the DLDC doesn't knee-jerk to the Dunkirk City government dog whistle like the OBSERVER knee jerks to the West Virginia lapdog whistle.

Where was the Observer staff when Kory A and Tim were writing checks to each other?

Should have been on the ball and got the story then, in fact the Observer has yet to come down on Kory. WHY IS THAT?
