Well if the Observer can't bother to get the facts, and they were on the news, could someone post the information for those of us who didn't see it?

Overall it seems like a lot of drama, especially for such a small department. Hopefully the department can move past this without loosing a bunch of members.

On a related topic, I have to say I was surprised to see that a department with only 50 members is split up into four companies.

This has been going on for some time. Those who are charged knew what the charges were, they committed them.

Speakyourmind, why didn't you just use your real name Pacanowski?

Knowing the members on the board of fire commissions, and I know them all well I would say they gave these two all the time in the world to come up with the receipts and paperwork for their claims. Knowing the Pacanowski's I would believe they didn't care about any receipts or paperwork and in fact blew the whole issue off like they were going to get away with it. Well if you know the Chairman of the Fire Commission he was one of the men that caught the school superintendent a few years back with false travel vouchers and toy purchases paid for by the taxpayers. This guy give everyone a chance to correct the situation. He is fair but try and screw him over and you will get the horns, it appears this father/son act didn't want to correct the issues.

The older Pacanowski is the code enforcement officer in the town and village of westfield. What a joke he is. Everyone who has to deal with him doesn't like him. He should be fired from that position as well. What is it with these people, they put their name on the line for $700.

Guilty until proven innocent? Why didn't the Board try working with Mr. Pacanowski BEFORE they went to the media? Why wasn't Mr. Pacanowski given the reason behind his suspension BEFORE they went to the media? Why would Mr. Pacanowski WANT to return to a department who has publicly humiliated him and his family? Whether the suspensions are temporary or not, the Board has done enough damage within the fire department and the community will have to pay the ultimate price!

Your article is a little slow as the alleged reasons were stated on the television! From what I understand, the suspensions could be temporary and the board is working with the Chief to try and work this out. Let's remain positive and not think the worse without having all the facts!

Maybe Mr. Pacanowski is being condemned for speaking his mind publicly about the turmoil within the department. You bash me so I'll bash you???

Before we jump to conclusions and assume the Pacanowski's are guilty of anything, let's take a look at the Fire Commissioners' business practices, shall we? First, they suspend Stephen via email??? How professional and courteous. Second, they do not provide him with a reason for the suspension (they had to find out via the media)! Let's also think about the timeliness of these suspensions in regards to the recent resignations of two other chiefs as well as Ms. Puckhaber's addition to the Commission Board. While you all assume the guilt of some, how about looking at the shadiness of the Board itself.
