Kent is one of a kind....and now lots of folks know that! He always makes it about the students, never himself. And if you try to compliment him he will just throw it back with self-deprecating humor. He's a gifted musician and teacher willing to forever share those gifts. All of western NY should be busting with pride.

A lesson: small schools and dedicated teachers who know their communities are well-worth supporting. The Westfield administration and community have for many years been very supportive of their music program. While others are worrying about fielding football teams from small schools, the bigger picture includes all offerings to students--in this case curricular, not extracurricular. These students "study" music in a very serious way and to an accomplished level that can sustain them for life musically. And the accolades of present and former students show that "music education" is far from a frill, the icing on the cake of their school experience. No; music education has been basic to who they are, how they see themselves, and how they look at their futures. Remember that, taxpayers and board of education members.
