What a difference one month makes.
Community Blood Bank officials, who announced they were pleased with current supplies in December, have announced there is a critical blood shortage. Dan Desrochers, director of marketing for the organization, said the flu and weather are part of the blame in the shortage.
"It's everything all at once," he said. "We just aren't able to get enough donors to meet the local need."
Two drives are scheduled this week and no appointment is necessary. They include:
Westfield Memorial Hospital on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Lake Shore TLC in Irving on Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
