Marcella M. Krzyzanowski

Marcella M. Krzyzanowski, age 56, of South Roberts Road, Dunkirk, NY passed away Tuesday (January 29, 2013) at Brooks Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was born in Dunkirk, NY on January 10, 1957, the daughter of Johnnie T. Thomas of Dunkirk and the late Rosietta M. (Jackson) Thomas. A lifelong Dunkirk resident, Marcella graduated from Dunkirk High School. She was an employee of the Fredonia State College Day Care Center in the mid 1980s, Kraft Foods, and later went on to Work for Cliffstar for 14 years until her illness. She ran the Demolition Derby with her husband for many years, Ernie's Animals baseball and football teams and was a member of the Elks Lodge for eight years. She enjoyed puzzles, crocheting, making dolls and being on her computer. If ever you needed a friend, helping hand or just someone to talk to, she was there. Marcella was an active member of the Good Hope Baptist Church where she served as secretary of the Usher's Board, President of the Missionary Board and sang in the church choir.In addition to her father, she leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 26 years, Ernest Krzyzanowski; her daughter, Myra Thomas (Jerry) Murphy and her son, Michael J. (Samantha) Plaza, both of Dunkirk; her stepchildren, Connie J. (Bobek) Wojcinski of Dunkirk, Kenneth D. (Pam) Krzyzanowski and Rodney (Robin) Krzyzanowski, both of Greensville, S.C.; her brothers, John Michael Thomas, Rudolph Thomas, Randolph Thomas, all of Dunkirk; and Jerome Thomas of Jamestown, NY; 12 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her mother, she was preceded in death by her sister, Martha Hollins; and her brother, Robert Dennis Thomas. Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at the Good Hope Baptist Church, 215 Eagle St., Dunkirk, NY. The Rev. Leo J. Nixon will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-6 P.M. Sunday at the Newman Funeral Home Inc. and from 12:00 P.M. (Noon) Monday until the time of the service at the Good Hope Baptist Church. Flowers gratefully accepted. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Good Hope Baptist Church.
