Barbara A. Fitzgibbons, 78, of Silver Creek, NY passed away Monday (Feb. 11, 2013) at the Chautauqua County Home in Dunkirk, NY. She was born Feb. 27, 1934 in Buffalo, NY, the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Slater) Newton. Barbara was an alumna of Our Lady of Victory High
School in 1951. She also was a graduate of the "Famous Artist School" of Chicago, a home study program. She attended Fredonia State, where she took art classes, became a commercial artist and created her own greeting cards. In her younger years, Barbara was gifted with horses and was an accomplished horsewoman. Passionate about the family vineyard, she loved working in the vineyard and her gardens and taught herself
horticulture. But most of all she adored her children and grandchildren. Surviving are her husband of 57 years, William T. Fitzgibbons Sr., whom she

married Dec. 30, 1955; one son, William T. (Kathleen) Fitzgibbons Jr. of Alpharetta, Ga.; three daughters, Paula J. (James) Snyder of Olean, Barbara "Susan" (John) Saulitis of Mineral Ridge, Ohio and Kathryn M. (Thomas) Welch at Hinsdale, NY; eight grandchildren, Timothy and Margaret Perrigo, Emily and Anna Saulitis, Colleen and Bonnie Welch, Natalie and Peter Fitzgibbons; a sister, Mary Clancy of Buffalo; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Jeanne Wright. Prayers will be held Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013 from the Hole-Parker Funeral
Chapel in Silver Creek followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Silver Creek. The family will be present
at the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9 Monday. Internment will be in Evergreen Lawn Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to
