JAMESTOWN - A Jamestown man is in Chautauqua County Jail after police found him hiding in the back seat of a vehicle pulled over for a traffic stop.
The incident occurred Monday at the intersection of Washington and 10th streets around 4:30 p.m. when police stopped a vehicle for an undisclosed violation. Darren K. Mushat, 28, was found lying in the backseat of the vehicle, allegedly attempting to hide from officers.
According to a police report, Mushat was wanted in an outstanding warrant for third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
The city resident was taken into custody Monday. During their investigation, police found 1.6 grams of crack cocaine on Mushat, who was additionally charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Mushat was arraigned Tuesday in Jamestown City Court and was remanded to County Jail.
