It seems to have become a trend the past few seasons when Dunkirk and Fredonia's baseball and softball teams are scheduled to play, that the sky opens up and the games are washed away.
"It's tough trying to get anything going," Dunkirk softball coach John Sliwa said. "We're so used to playing three days a week, so this is tough. I wish people really looked at moving games up when they had the chance. But it's tough, this time of year, to play two games a week. It's very, very tough."
That was the case Wednesday afternoon as both games scheduled for 4:30 p.m. starts were postponed due to the wet weather Western New York continues to receive. The softball teams will now meet on Tuesday at Veterans' Field while the baseball teams will square off on Tuesday afternoon at Al Stuhlmiller Field.
Rainy weather postponed the Fredonia at Dunkirk baseball and softball games scheduled for Wednesday. The games were rescheduled for Tuesday at Veterans’ and Al Stuhlmiller fields.
"It looks like next week is going to be good," Sliwa added. "We've got four scheduled next week and four the week after that."
