The village of Fredonia is being approached by residents on Cassadaga Lake to purchase a piece of property currently owned by the village.
Joseph and Lisa Beaser have a property on Glasgow on the Lake with the property next to the Beasers' property being village owned.
The Beasers would like to purchase the property at market value so they can expand their home and make it into a more permanent residence. They came to the village board workshop to discuss the matter.
"We'd like to put an addition, a garage addition with a master bedroom and bathroom," Joseph said. "I'd like to make it a permanent home."
The property is in the town of Pomfret, which Mayor Stephen Keefe said would be a tax increase. The Beasers said they would give back a 6-foot easement for the village if they ever needed access to the property. Six feet may also be increased, according to the couple, if the village needed a larger easement. DPW Supervisor Jack Boland said he would go look at the property and give his input. The village board has talked about this matter in the past and will discuss it again at a later date.
During the regular board meeting the village approved the annual firemen's drive throughout the village during the weeks of May 27 and June 9.
Adrian Balch and Greg Lauer were appointed to the Fredonia-Pomfret Parks and Recreation Commission and Ronald Johnson was appointed as acting village justice until April 23, 2014. The village board also approved going out to bid for metered fuels, water meters and chemicals for the water and sewer department.
