The seedings for the 2013 Section 6 high school baseball playoffs were released Saturday.
Trent Thompson and the Fredonia Hillbillies earned a No. 2 seed in the Section 6 Class B-2 baseball playoffs. City Honors received the No. 1 spot. Baseball playoffs are set to begin Monday.
In Class B-1, the Dunkirk Marauders drew the No. 10 seed and will travel to No. 7 Alden on Monday in a prequarterfinal matchup. The winner of that game will face No. 2 Albion, who won't play a prequarterfinal, Tuesday in the quarterfinal round. Semifinals are scheduled for Friday while the final is set for May 29.
Meanwhile, in Class B-2, the Fredonia Hillbillies earned the No. 2 seed and a free pass to the quarterfinal round. Fredonia will host the winner of Monday's prequarterfinal between No. 7 Royalton Hartland and No. 10 Falconer on Tuesday. Gowanda drew the No. 6 seed and will host No. 11 CSAT at home in a prequarterfinal contest Monday. The winner of that game plays No. 3 JFK the next day in the quarterfinals. Like Class B-1, semifinals are slated for Friday and the final May 29.
No. 3 Westfield leads the pack of local schools in Class C as the Wolverines play No. 14 Holland in the prequarterfinals on Monday.
Other pre-quarterfinals for Monday include No. 12 Barker at No. 5 Cassadaga Valley and No. 15 Silver Creek at No. 2 Leonardo da Vinci. Chautauqua Lake, however, hosts Salamanca Monday in a play-in game. The winner earns the No. 16 seed and a trip to Middle College for a pre-quarterfinal on Tuesday. The semifinals are set for Friday and the final is scheduled for May 29.
In Class D, North Collins drew the No. 2 seed and plays the winner of Monday's prequarterfinal between No. 7 West Valley and No. 10 Ellicottville on Wednesday. No. 3 Pine Valley, No. 4 Brocton and No. 5 Ripley also bypassed the first round. Ripley travels to Brocton for a quarterfinal Wednesday while Brocton plays No. 6 Panama. No. 8 Forestville will be the lone local Class D team in action Monday against No. 9 Sherman in a prequarterfinal game. The winner gets top seed Clymer Wednesday. Like Class C, the semifinals are planned for Friday and the final May 29.
