Route 60 accident

A two-vehicle accident between a car and a tractor trailer sent one to the hospital Tuesday morning. According to New York State Police, at 9 a.m. Ronald Hegner, 27, of Dunkirk was traveling north on Route 60 in the town of Dunkirk when his vehicle rear-ended a tractor trailer. The tractor trailer had its hazard lights on and was stopped. The driver, whose name was not released by police, was uninjured. Hegner was extricated from the vehicle and flown by Starflight to Hamot in Erie, Pa. with several injuries. The crash is still under investigation. Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office, East Town of Dunkirk and Alstar Ambulance also responded to the scene.
