Members of Danza! Performing Arts Academy's dance companies have recently finished up a successful dance season. In addition to competition, workshops and performances dancers performed at benefits, assemblies, lecture demonstrations and local retirement communities.
Danza! produced the annual "Performance Showcase," a full two act non-competitive local stage opportunity to perform alongside other area groups of all artistic genres.
In national dance competitions the dancers attended Star Quest in Syracuse, Dance Wave, The Dance Invitational and Showstopper. Senior Danzaco's contemporary routine "Little Red Riding Hood" earned platinum awards at each event including first, two second and a fourth overall. They also received a perfect score at the second event, a costume award and a Grand Champion win. Director and choreographer Krista Taylor was awarded the highest teacher honor with the choreography award for "Little Red Riding Hood" and a creativity award.

Bella Danzaco dancers performed "Barbie Girl." Receiving the highest award at each event dancers received first, second and fifth in overalls as well as two costume awards. A jazz dance, "What's a Girl Gotta Do?" performed with all Danzaco Company dancers received numerous awards including Grand Champions and several first overalls.
In solos, Senior Abby Noonan received platinum and first overall for "Katie Cruel" at each event, including a perfect score. She also received a storytelling award and the "Super Soloist" for the top solo at the Dance Wave event. In junior solos the highlight was the sweep of first Overall for Mckenna Taylor with a perfect score, second Kelly Lucas, third Kyra Taylor and fourth Macy Kawski. Kawski also received a special "Sassy" award. Kyra and Mckenna Taylor also placed in the top 5 at three events and top 10 for one including two first overalls for Mckenna Taylor. "Show Off" the solo by Mckenna Taylor was third out of all age solos and nominated for three awards including "Best personality" and "Best Lip sync" and won for the award for best stage presence out of 300-plus performances. In minis, Jordan Lucas made her debut with a gold trophy.
Senior duet/trios included Noonan and Sarah Zinni for a modern dance "Riverside," Noonan and Jillian Stonefoot with the musical theatre "A Boy Like That," Noonan, Stonefoot & Zinni for a ballet "Lucie." Twice the groups swept the overall with first, second and third in Overalls. In teen action the Acro duet of "Unstoppable" by Destiny Draggett and Mckenna Taylor received all platinum awards along with three first Overall for all teen numbers and one second.
In junior duet/trio Macy Kawski, Kyra Taylor and Mckenna Taylor's "Twist my Hips" placed in the top five at each event, received the third highest trio score and was the lone non senior group selected to compete for scholarships. "Shake, Rattle and Roll" by the Taylor sister's placed in the top five at each event and received a costume award. "Made in Japan" by Suzanne Piper and Kyra Taylor received several first in category and top five finishes. The small group "Sassy" by Kawski, Lucas, Taylor and Taylor received a perfect score and all top 5 finishes.

Bella Danzaco participants are Mia Barone, Macy Kawski, Jordan Lucas, Kelly Lucas, Suzanne Piper, Kyra Taylor and Mckenna Taylor of Fredonia, Abby Rice, Marissa Grisanti and Tabitha Shevlin from Silver Creek.
In10sity hip hop made their debut this season with "Marilyn Monroe" and first in category at each event. In10sity hip hop dancers include Mia Barone, Raena Beckley, Kawski, Ava Kehrer, Piper, Shevlin, Kyra Taylor and Mckenna Taylor.
In cheer action the Danza! Divas placed first for their "Party Rock Anthem." Diva Cheer members are Emma Ahlstrom, Caroline Breighner, Emma Fitzer, Emma Forthman, Mia Gorka, Mia Haase, Kawski, Megan Nye, Helen Pope, Tabitha Shevlin, Kylie Stanton, Ana Szymanek, Kyra Taylor, Mckenna Taylor and Bella Walker.
Dancers of all ages will present their annual May production at SUNY Fredonia Marvel Theatre, with tickets available through the college. During the summer, production dancers will prepare for a national competition in June, as well as other competitions and local events.
