The Fredonia Farmers' Market is ready for Halloween Saturday. Children are invited to wear their Halloween costumes to the Fredonia Farmers' Market for "Trick or Treat at the Market" and receive a little treat from each of the vendors.
To join in the fun, bring your own Trick or Treat bag and come to the market dressed in your spookiest, silliest or prettiest costumes. Simply stop at each vendor's table and say "Trick or Treat!" Some of the Market vendors will be in costumes and adult patrons are welcome to visit the market in costume as well, but not to gather treats.
From 10 to 10:30 a.m., Mr. Scarecrow will read Halloween stories to the children. Mini pumpkin decorating will take place in the center of the Market. The women from SUNY Fredonia Circle of Sisters will assist the children with decorating pumpkins. There is no charge for this event and the children may take their pumpkin home.
Pancakes will be served by DeGolier's Maple Products, and Roo Haven Farm will serve free chicken soup beginning at 11 a.m. Come and enjoy a quiet Saturday morning at the Market with your children.
"Trick or Treat at the Market" will be the last large event at the Fredonia Farmers' Market. The Market will continue until Oct. 26 after which the vendors move indoors for the Winter Market at the Masonic Temple on Route 20.
The Summer Farmers' Market is open every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Church Street adjacent to Barker Common in downtown Fredonia. The weekly market offers an abundance of locally grown and produced vegetables, fruits and herbs, meats, baked goods, maple syrup, honey, jams and jellies, as well as artisan quality craft goods.
Market patrons can use their EBT cards at the Fredonia Farmers' Market with the EBT token program.
Visit the Market Manager's table at the market to purchase tokens with SNAP benefit cards.
