"Cardinal in Winter" by fifth-grade student Alyssa Grover is the inaugural piece chosen for a permanent collection of student artwork that will hang on the walls of Brocton Central School.
The plan is that each year two pieces of artwork from students in kindergarten through fifth grade will be chosen, framed and added to the collection
The idea became a reality after a conversation between Amy Gawronski, Brocton's elementary art teacher, and Sandra Olson, elementary principal. Gawronski expressed her desire to frame and display a piece of student artwork in the school hallway to celebrate the talent of her students, "who take a great deal of time and pride with their artwork."
Alyssa Grover’s artwork, “Cardinal in Winter,” is the first work in a permanent collection of children’s art to be hung at Brocton Central School. Two pieces of art are to be framed and added each year. Pictured left to right are Sandra Olson, elementary principal, Alyssa, and Amy Gawronski, elementary art teacher.
It is hoped that the collection will inspire creativity, celebrate imagination and encourage the self-expression of future students.
