One of the largest nights out - next to New Year's Eve - occurs tonight on Thanksgiving Eve.
In a reminder to area residents, Dunkirk police issued a number of safety tips that appeared in our newspaper and online. One of those items included not overdoing the celebrating if you are driving.
"We wish for everyone to enjoy the holiday with family and friends, but if you have celebrated too much and can't safely operate a vehicle, please don't," the city police release stated. "Designate a safe driver ahead of time. Please don't create a tragedy as your remembrance of this holiday."
Area residents have plenty to be thankful for - and many who grew up here come back for this holiday.
Enjoy the evening, the day - and stay safe.
