LANCASTER - Fredonia's Matt McCarthy had a busy Saturday.
The junior broke two school records during a high school indoor track and field meet early in the day, and then went to Blasdell for the Connolly Cup dinner.
McCarthy broke the school record in the 50-meter dash with a time of :6.3. It broke the old record held by Russell Walker at :6.7 in 2010. Meanwhile, he also broke the school's high jump record with a leap of 5-feet-4-inches. The old mark was held by Dan Joy in 2010 of 5-2.
Garret Johnson had a first-place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 36-3 and teammate Austin Glazier placed third with a leap of 29-4.
AJ Amatuzzo placed second in the long jump at 14-10 and Bryce Bentham of Westfield placed third in the 3,200 with a time of 11:20.
For the girls, Emily Mackinnon placed third in the shot put with a throw of 29-2 and Georgie Gens took second in the long jump at 10-5.
