MAYVILLE - The Westfield Wolverines took advantage of a 17-7 first quarter lead to defeat Chautauqua Lake, 61-53, Monday in CCAA West II boys basketball action.
Westfield's Tanner Dahl was held to just four points through three quarters, but exploded for 17 in the final quarter to seal the victory for the Wolverines.
"I don't think we played bad," Chautauqua Lake coach Michael Putney said. "The biggest thing for us is we started late this year. We started late and then had a bunch of games cancelled, so we had to jump right into league play. This was Westfield's fifth game and we looked like a team playing its second game."
Jessie Rodriguez added 11 points in the win while Jacob Grey pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds. Dahl added eight rebounds to go with his 21 points.
Ian Clute led Chautauqua Lake with 18 points. Carted Davidson had 10 points in the loss while Ryan Miller recorded eight rebounds.
