The November meeting of Westfield's Laureate Alpha Pi sorority was held at the YWCA. The group completed plans for its Christmas party. Hostesses were Shannon Bills and Lynn Stetson. The tailgate party set up by Linda Bourne in November was a success. The November donation was made to help fight Juvenile Diabetes, and a contribution was also made to the Anew Center in Jamestown for clothing, personal amenities and food for the people it helps. Carol Best gave each member a donation list for the Westfield Community Kitchen.
December's contribution will be a donation to Westfield Union Relief.
The program for the evening presented by Priscilla Malarkey and Clara Winkelman was "Shipwrecks of Lake Erie." Members were surprised that many ships still rest at the bottom of Lake Erie. The presenters showed the group maps of the wrecks' locations. Some shipwrecks can actually be seen from the shores of Ripley.
The next meeting will be Jan. 20 at the YWCA. Hostesses will be Carole Link and Winkelman. The program will be "A Healthy New Year" presented by Barb VanDyke and Terri Daniels. January's social will be "A Movie at Home" with Malarkey. Members will vote then for the Valentine Sweetheart. The name will be announced at the February Valentine's party.
Get well wishes go out to Sylvia Colbey from the group.
