Today, America pauses to remember a leader who had values and persistence and believed in equality: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
As is the annual custom, a luncheon will take place this afternoon at the Moose Lodge on Lake Shore Drive West to not only pay tribute to King's legacy, but to celebrate achievements of area residents. The theme for today's event is "The Struggle Continues" and the keynote speaker for the event will be Frank Williams, dean of admissions of Daemen College.
Last year, former Congressional candidate Nate Shinagawa was given a standing ovation after his keynote address.
"A dream that each of us has alone isn't enough," he said. "But a dream of compassion, of togetherness, and hope that we all share, my friends, that can be reality."
