John Jablonski III, executive director of the Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy, will speak to the League of Women Voters on Wednesday Jan. 29 at noon at Shorewood Country Club.
Jablonski, a native of Batavia, has fished, swam and boated on Chautauqua Lake since his childhood. He is a graduate of Cornell University, receiving a bachelor of science degree in natural resources with a concentration in environmental sciences. He received a master's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in urban and regional planning with a concentration in water resource planning.
As executive director of the Conservancy, Jablonski has facilitated the conservation of two miles of shoreline on Chautauqua Lake and its outlet and over 700 acres of watershed lands in Chautauqua County. He has developed and presented watershed and lake education programs for a variety of audiences over the last 17 years. He has served on the Chautauqua Lake Management commission and serves as a director on the NYS Federation of Lake Associations, Chautauqua County Water Quality Task Force and the county Environment Management Council. He is an avid fisherman on Chautauqua Lake and area streams.
