I didn't realize that our County Home is still for sale. I thought it was voted down three times. Our legislators can vote and vote and vote until they get the vote they want?
Again, another vote is coming up with VestraCare already offering to buy? Isn't this putting the cart before the horse? Again?
All this time and money wasted. What I or rather, we, could have done with that!
Apparently, our county legislators have no other business to tend to. And since this is our County Home, why aren't we, the people, voting on it?
So many places are in the red. Thankfully, my household is in the black. Gee, I don't have a degree in business, or a title of "expert" or "administrator." I do not receive a paycheck for my duties.
Costs are rising on every level, so I must challenge myself and deduct fruitless expenses, and never told my children to move out because I can't afford them anymore.
Our legislators are nitpicking at the County Home union. (What about the big-pay administrators?) My mother was at the Home and I saw first-hand what the CNAs, for example, do. Well, you couldn't pay me enough to do what they do. Maybe these legislators should be made to work an eight-hour shift as a CNA - then, let's talk.
And if our Home is sold, our county will be in the red again in a few short years. Gee, will they take us in their homes when we become feeble and can't afford private care?
In closing, I want to thank everyone who has written to this column in support of keeping our Home. All made excellent points which are being ignored. We didn't vote to be ignored. People, our family, friends, and ourselves, please speak up loud and clear for our future!
