Vincent R. Valone, 71, of Fredonia, NY died Wednesday evening (June 4, 2014) at his residence following a long courageous battle with cancer.
He was born Nov. 7, 1942 in Dunkirk, NY to the late Russell and Josephine (Tremonte) Valone.
Mr. Valone was educated in both the Dunkirk and Fredonia school systems. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era.
Forty-five years ago on July 13, 1968, Vincent married Maryann Gugino at St. Anthony's Church in Fredonia, NY. Together they raised two sons, Russell and Richard and a daughter, Valerie, who survive him.
He had been a meat cutter at The Meat Counter in Dunkirk, prior to his illness.
Vincent enjoyed watching football with his family, riding his motorcycle and collecting Elvis memorabilia.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, George, and several aunts and uncles.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Vincent's Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated by Father Joseph Zalacca on Monday, June 9, 2014 at 10 a.m. in Holy Trinity Church, Dunkirk, NY and may call at the Fantauzzi Funeral Home, 82, East Main St., Fredonia, NY on Sunday, June 8 from 4-8 p.m. Donations in Vincent's memory to Hospice Chautauqua County, 20 West Fairmount Avenue, Lakewood, NY 14750 would be greatly appreciated by the family.
